What child hasn’t galloped around on a stick horse or rocked on a wooden pony? 🐎
Cowboys played an essential role in the expansion of the United States between 1865–1895. Over time, they built a culture all their own — one celebrated in books, movies, and on TV. 📚🎬🤠
But cowboy life wasn’t all that glamorous — it was often grueling and lonely. Cowboys herded cattle, cared for horses, repaired fences, and worked long cattle drives beneath the blazing sun. ☀️ They wore wide-brimmed hats to shield their faces, boots with spurs, and bandanas to keep out the dust. Some even wore leather chaps to protect their legs from prickly cactus. 🌵
Cowboys were known by many names: cowpokes, buckaroos, cowhands, and cowpunchers. 🐄
In this story, Colton’s father tucks him into bed and shares an old cowboy tale. Listening to his father’s soothing voice, Colton’s eyelids grow heavy.
“I wanna be a cowboy and learn to rope and ride,” he mumbles as sleep carries him away. 🌙✨
That night, Colton dreams of being a cowboy — riding the open range on his pinto pony, Daisy, with his faithful dog Lava tucked into the saddlebag. 🐕🐎 Together, they herd cattle, chase the sunset, and even perform at a rodeo alongside famous cowboys and cowgirls! 🐂🎖️
